Rabbi Jeffrey Schesnol - Jewish Calendar and Holidays
Jewish holidays are built around cycles enriched with other holidays. They fit into the cycle of the year, and each has its purpose and relates to the nature of the celebration.
The holidays were crafted to fuse the mood and natures cycle with the roots of their connections to the land and historic events they recalled.
The basic concept of time demarcations as boundaries thus provide a structure of marking time and separating portions of it into units. These are repeated with regularity which create the method by which we manage our lives.
