Humanistic Judaism embraces a Human-Centered Philosophy

“The new Judaism must start with the individual. It must address the questions of personal existence first. What are my needs? What is my power to satisfy them? What are my limitations? Where can I find support from other people? How do I achieve greater control over my own life? And the answers need to be more than quotations from the Jewish past. The name humanistic is an acknowledgment of this new priority. It is identified with the struggle for personal happiness and personal dignity. And, in a world of open boundaries and intermarriage, it enables us to embrace people who were not born Jews.” - Sherwin Wine, founder of Humanistic Judaism

We believe in the human capacity and responsibility to create a better world. Or Adam Congregation is active and inclusive.  We seek to provide the social, emotional, spiritual, and intellectual needs of Jews by birth, by choice, by association, and of partners who wish to retain their own religious and cultural identification.  Regardless of how or if you connect with God, we concentrate on human connections, accomplishments, responsibilities, and self-actualization at our community family celebrations.

We Welcome All.

We believe in the power of human reason, compassion, and responsibility. Our hope lies not in promises of salvation, but in what we can accomplish together.

Since 1987, Or Adam has brought people together to celebrate Jewish culture and embrace a humanistic approach to life rooted in dignity and connection

We believe that creating a more just and compassionate world begins with respect for individual dignity, and collective action to improve the lives of others.
